Exposing the Enemy - 4

Exercising Spiritual Authority

(Romans 16:20)  ‘And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.’

  • God of peace that bruises Satan under your feet.
  • Spiritual authority is not forcing your will upon another.
  • Spiritual authority is when you have established God’s peace in the area where there was previously conflict.
  • Peace is necessary before spiritual authority can work.
  • When we maintain peace during warfare, it is a crushing blow to the enemy.
  • How does this work?

Peace is established when we refuse to accept what we see, hear or feel, but we believe what God’s word says about our situation

    • The God of peace only cooperates with you when you have established peace.
    • He needs agreement (and the agreement is peace) regarding the thing that is about to be crushed under your feet.

    • When you have true spiritual authority over something, you can look at it without fear, worry or anxiety.

(Ephesians 6:15)  “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace”

    • The entire gospel is one of peace

    • It’s God’s authority wrapped up in God’s words for you to use against the enemy.
    • Your peace in a situation is the barometer you can use for your victory in that situation
    • You haven’t got victory until you’ve got peace.

    • Your peace is proof of your victory.

The Devils kingdom is totally devoid of peace, so he draws you into his kingdom when you are not peaceful.

      (Philippians 4:6)

“Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.”

      (Philippians 4:7)

Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

If you are peaceful, he has no power over you.

      (Mark 4:35 -39)  READ

      (Mark 4:39)

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Every circumstance /situation is subject to peace.

Jesus persona was one of absolute peace.

      He exuded peace.

    • Devil operates on worry, fear, doubt, self- pity, unrest
    • God’s kingdom operates on peace

If the devil can rob your peace, he can rob your life.

Any situation in life where you have no peace –your in a spiritual war with the devil

      Conversely:

    • Wherever you experience peace –you have victory over the devil
    • When you have peace about a situation, no matter the circumstances –you are winning.
    • You can gauge your progress not by the circumstances, but by your peace in the midst of the circumstances.

    • Peace is a spiritual barometer.

    • In the spiritual realm it is a powerful indicator

    (Philippians 1:28)

In no way be alarmed by your opponents which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation to you

    (Philippians 1:28)

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

    (Philippians 1:28)

not flinching or dodging in the slightest before the opposition. Your courage and unity will show them what they're up against: defeat for them, victory for you--and both because of God.

    • Your peace is the foundation for courage and authority.
    • Your (peace) = immovable stand on God’s word is a sign that you are positioned correctly in perfect submission to the will of God

Any relationship where there is no peace –be careful.

    • Wherever there is a peaceful relationship –you have a friend.
    • You cannot go into business with the unsaved
    • You cannot marry the unsaved.
    • You have to discern every relationship on the basis of the peace you feel about the other person.

      Peacemakers are sons of God

      (Luke 10:5)

And into whatever house you enter, first say, Peace to this house.

      (Luke 10:6)

And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest on it. If not, it shall return to you,

      Jesus was saying:

The first thing you do with strangers is gauge (discern) their peace.

    • A peacemaker is not someone who merely protests against war, he is someone who is inwardly yielded to Christ.
    • He is fearless, calm and bold.
    • In the battles of life your peace is actually a weapon, it actually declares you are not falling for the lies of the devil.

1st Step of having spiritual authority over the devil

Is having peace in spite of the circumstances.

    (Psalm 23:4)

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

    • There is a place of walking with God, where you fear no evil. Why –

    • You don’t walk into death –you walk through!!!

    • You walk through the shadow of death

    • A shadow never hurt anyone

When the devil casts his shadow –you simply walk on through it -the devil is only a shadow of his former self

      (Psalm 23:5)

You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

    • God prepares the meal table (celebration meal)
    • The table is prepared before your enemies (this means that the celebration is supposed to take place before the battle is over)

      God is saying :

‘let’s sit and fellowship together in the midst of this battle, and let the devil and the circumstances watch us’.

    • The battles you are in will be converted to a meal of celebration.

    • The battles targeted to destroy you will actually be converted to strengthen you
    • The battle you are in will soon become a meal for you

    God is with us

    (Psalm 23:4)

    Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me;

    • The source of God’s peace is God Himself
    • The Lord is never worried, frustrated, concerned, frightened, confused,

       (Revelation 4:6)

And a sea of glass was in front of the throne, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind.

      .

    • Sea of glass is a calm sea, there are no waves. Surely this speaks of peace.

    • Heaven is not a tense, restless, unpeaceful  place –it’s a peaceful place

This is where you are seated – in heaven

    (Ephesians 2:6)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

    (Ephesians 2:6)  Message

Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.

  • You see things from a heavenly perspective –sitting down (peacefully) can you see the picture.

  • When you have a heavenly perspective –you have an earthly authority.

    Conclusion

The devil is not scared of you –it’s Jesus in you

He’s also knows where you are seated –in the highest place of authority (next to God)

    Master Key:

What do I do in that position next to God – WORSHIP

Position yourself in that place of worship, sit and rest, and watch your enemies shudder and flee because of the authority that you carry in that place.
