IN THE NAME, JESUS
October 27, 2019
There is power in the name of Jesus. Power to heal, redeem and turn hearts, minds and lives around. He so loves us, even when we reject Him. Read how one man learned about the truth of Jesus.
One week day I had to travel for work and booked a cab.
When I asked the cab driver to take me to the Hills District he asked, “Are you going to Hillsong?” I replied “No, I am going to work at an office in Kellyville.”
The cab driver then went on to say, he didn't agree with the message of Hillsong that it was not 'real'. I replied that it was a generational congregation and was targeting young people and included a Bible College for students of all ages.
The cab driver then responded with his thoughts. His knowledge of Hillsong seemed vast and at times accurate. I preferred not to get into a conversation about this.
This man was well educated and intelligent and so instead I talked about the Bible, as the foundation rather than church. At this time, he mentioned he had other beliefs. I felt the Holy Spirit move and start to minister to him as I spoke of the precious blood of Jesus, son of the living God and the divine presence of the Holy Spirit.
He recalled a time when he felt threatened during his sleep, he felt like he was falling and something had taken hold of him drawing him down. In fear for his life, he started to call out to different names to help him. Then he called out “Jesus”. And immediately he was out of the darkness.
It was in his semi-sleep state he learned the power in the name of Jesus.
I explained to him, Jesus did not come to persecute, “we do not stand before God alone but in the righteousness of Jesus and what was done at the cross. “Therefore, in Christ our sins are forgiven and there is no condemnation.” Romans 8:1
It was an exquisite moment in that I just knew the Lord was present. The cab driver listened. There was no resistance. I shared with him the Salvation message about the new covenant and how the blood of Jesus is more powerful than anything.
“So that at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father. “
Philippians 2:10
I asked his name and he said “John”.
I replied, John is the name of the disciple whom Jesus loved. He listened. We arrived at the work destination and I said to him I had prayed for someone who was interesting to drive me to work and The Lord provided you. It is a divine appointment.
It was the most unbelievable cab drive and the peace of God throughout. I arrived at work with the incredible sense of God 's presence and then straight into a board meeting.
