Being hired for an exciting new job opportunity, Diego found himself in the situation of being let go just as quickly. Doing everything humanly possible to find another job, but with no success - read the amazing journey that he went on that brought him back full circle!

In June 2015, I left my job for an opportunity in a different firm. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the position I was going for was no longer available and out of the blue I was without an income and with no perspective of where to go.

This didn’t frighten me at first. I knew what I had to do, and I knew how to do it! I sat down and had a look at the job market. I focused on the skills that were in higher demand, improved my knowledge where I could, and started applying for jobs.

After 2 months with no results, I reached out to a friend who I knew had great outcomes in writing resumes and preparing people for interviews. We worked together on improving a few things with my resume and cover letter, then restarted the job application process. Again, no success. Even my friend couldn’t understand what was happening, I didn’t get a single response to any of my applications.

The realisation started to set in, things weren’t going the way I thought they would, and I was frightened. I didn’t understand what was missing. It was almost the end of September, and I was without a job for almost 4 months. Finally, I started to ask God, why? I was sure God was ahead of my decision to change careers from nursing into finance. I knew God positioned me in my previous employment at the trading firm and I also knew he was pointing me out of there when I left, so I couldn’t understand why I was in this situation. By this point, I had to fall back on nursing to generate some income. Not that there is anything wrong with nursing - but it wasn’t my calling, and I knew it.

One night my wife and I went to one of the young professional’s meetings at Sydney Life Church, and there it finally dawned on me what was missing all along. I understood that I was trying to move forward relying on myself, my own skills, even my friend's skills, when the only thing that I had to do all along is ask the Father for it. I understood what the Father was teaching me, He was waiting for me to let go and trust Him, to put my faith not on my own skills or even my friend's, but to let Him take care of me. That night I shared what was happening to me with the group and we all prayed over it. This happened on a Sunday night in the beginning of October 2015.

Well, the following morning while I was driving for my shift as a Registered Nurse, I received a phone call about the job I had applied for initially. They asked if I was still interested because a few things had finally changed again, and they were ready to offer me that position and with an increased salary offer! I accepted on the spot and just thanked God for the lesson He was teaching me. I finally understood that my efforts will only get me so far, but with the Lord on my side there are no limits to what I can achieve, and all He wants me to do is ask.

I’ve learned that no matter how scary the storm looks; my God is greater and all I need to do is trust Him and know it will be OK.
